Annapolis Electrical Services is a comprehensive residential and commercial electrical contractor servicing Annapolis, Baltimore and the surrounding counties. They pride themselves on providing outstanding service and unrivaled custom craftsmanship to all of our customers. My client for this project presented me with an all too familiar situation. They paid for a website and services, and after several years and LOTS of money later, had a disagreement with the developing company. When they reached out to me for help, the existing developer refused to release control of both the website AND domain name, so we had to start from the ground up. My task was to duplicate and enhance their existing site without any of the old site’s resources but also to make the site easy to replicate (by the customer themselves) so they could start their own web ring, which was a great type of SEO. The results of this project was a website (and new domain) that the customer owned outright which they could replicate as many times as they wanted without any additional cost. I even set them up with a hosting company that could host an unlimited number of sites and video based instructions on duplicating and publishing the sites.

Carpet Monkey is a full service floor and upholstery care company based just outside of Memphis, TN that provides top-notch QUALITY service to commercial and residential clients in their area and, with any luck, eventually nationwide. I love being a one-man operation because it allows me to really get to know my clients before I accept a project, and these guys were an absolute pleasure to work with. I was able to complete this project fairly quickly and VERY economically because they really liked a design I did for a previous client and I was able to adapt it to their needs. I also added in my usual content management system into the site, giving them full control of all the text on the site as well as a lot of features that they wouldn’t normally have access to (IE: if the slideshows are shown (and if they are shown what images to show or to specify new ones), what the sticky notes on each page say, what menus on the site are active and which are hidden and so on).

Reporter Webinars is a division of eVerbatim, Inc. which provides hardware, software and support solutions to the court reporting and broadcast captioning professions, and is the company I have been employed with for many years. This site is a duplicate of it’s sister site, Eclipse Webinars, but contains a different design and updated technology and was developed to serve eVerbatim’s clients with online training webinars which both further their clients education as well as earn them CE (continuing education) credits. This website employs a highly complex membership management software which not only handles registrations for each event, but also a long list of requirements for members to access the recordings for those events. The content management system used is a much more customized version of the software I use in most of my sites, which really shows it’s power. This site contains a lot of dynamic content that is dependent upon many variables provided by both the site administrators and clients. Once logged in the client can view recordings of online seminars, print custom CE credit request forms, register for new events and even earn themselves money by using the custom affiliate system

In addition to my many duties as General Manager, I also have the benefit of being the company’s website and graphics developer, allowing me to keep my skills finely honed. eVerbatim’s main website (there are 3 total) serves many purposes including a fully featured online storefront with integrated support ticketing systems, knowledgebase, blog and content management system. From a single online interface they can not only manage their website (content pages, products, reviews, etc.) but also provide top-notch support to their clients through a traceable ticket system. This site is constantly evolving as they add new features monthly and is well on it’s way to replacing the current in-house CRM software.

Michelle Whitlock is a Cervical Cancer Survivor & Advocate as well as an author and a motivational speaker. When she is not working or raising her daughter, Michelle travels the country educating women on the benefits of cancer vaccinations, advising those recently diagnosed with cervical cancer as well as helping women understand that there is life after cancer. Michelle came to me and asked for a website that conveyed not only her personal message and promoted her book, but more importantly promoted Cervical Cancer Awareness for women of all ages. She wanted something elegant, but also simple and easy to maintain on her own. The results speak for themselves and she now has a complete website which she can maintain on her own without any interaction with me unless she needs to do more than add and maintain content – I even designed a set of business cards and the log for her! It was an absolute pleasure not only to work with Michelle but also to learn her story and those of others around her.

Some would say it’s as though he were going to personally live in each home. Excalibur Construction is not just another company building homes at the beach, but a company that has truly gone the extra mile to set themselves apart as a premier custom home builder.

I really do throw myself in to EVERY project I accept, and this one was no exception. As far as websites go, it’s not the most complicated I’ve ever done, however it is the most user friendly one I’ve designed. From the client side interface to the administration back end, every aspect of this site was designed with ease of use in mind. From a single administration panel the owners can change pictures on the home page slideshow, add and change portfolio images on every page and even administer the Home Owners area. The Home Owners Area is a system I designed to allow Excalibur to provide their clients with up-to-date images, messages, changes, documents and so on as most of their clients don’t live close enough for daily or weekly walk-throughs. The Home Owners Area is also integrated into the Content Management System meaning there is still just a single system to control the entire site. While working on this site I really fell in love with the owner’s philosophy of “Build it Once, Build it Right” and it’s one that I do my very best to live and work by.
